Vogue World: Hollywood Fashion and Cinema

On October 25th of 2025, Vogue World showcased its Hollywood-themed fashion show in Los Angeles. This event was to showcase and celebrate the relationship between fashion and film, separated into seven acts. Opening with Nicole Kidman singing as she entered the Paramount Studios lot. Baz Luhrmann joins her on the runway as a director; he calls on the next scene, which goes into the fashion show. Models and celebrities strutted the runway with famous original costumes, while “crew” and “security” moved among them as if they were on set. Personally, I would love to highlight Jessica Rabbit's costume, stunning!
The show starts with act one and Kendall Jenner walking the runway in the original costume from Moulin Rouge!, which was designed by costume designer Catherine Martin. This time, I added a flair of modernism with a pair of Tiffany & Co. earrings. Daisy Buchanan’s dress from The Great Gatsby is also worn, as well as a few extra pieces from the film, to highlight Catherine’s work. These pieces were complemented by fashion pieces from Chanel, Valentino, Tom Ford, and other fashion designers that matched the era of film called The Golden Age.
Act two highlights Collen Atwood with a spooky opening of her costume for Edward Scissorhands. Anok Yai wears a design resembling the costume and begins the thriller showdown on the runway. Colleen’s original costumes from Alice and Wonderland danced across the runway with looks from Hermes, Rodarte, and Balenciaga. Being a Tim Burton fan myself, I was pleased with the flow of this act and enjoyed seeing some iconic pieces used again.
The show takes it up a notch with act three. Julia Garner turns up the beat while wearing a Marie Antoinette costume designed by Milena Canonero. The act dedicated to the beloved period dramas takes the runway, bouncing around the song, Bad Reputation. Costumes from Barry Lyndon join the runway with regal ballgowns from Gucci, Vaquero, and Christian Dior. This section is absolutely beautiful, and the music selection is a wonderful addition of fun.
Act four brings us to the 1960s and 70’s with the Summer of Love. A movie-heavy act with costumes from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Walk the Line, Clueless, and A Complete Unknown. Designed by Arianne Phillips, these costumes are matched with those that fit their era as well. Joining them were designers such as Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, and many other talented designers and their pieces to match this era.
With a focus on Avant-Garde, act five opens with a guitar-heavy 90’s music. Costumes from Orlando, Interview with a Vampire, and Velvet Goldmine. Jeff Goldblum walks the runway with an outfit from Gucci, and many other Gucci-designed looks join other designers such as Valentino and Louis Vuitton. The shoulder puffs, sparkles, funky patterns, and the music blend so seamlessly through this act. Valentine's Haute Couture to end the act is absolutely gorgeous and pulls the ending so well.
Act six is the one I have seen most discussed on social media since the show. Black Panther sets the scene with upbeat music, different from what the show was previously using. They start with a stellar dance in the costumes by Ruth E. Carter. Designers and companies like Off-White, Diotima, Balmain, and so many other brands color the stage with bright patterns and jewels. This act is visually stunning to watch.
The fashion show closes out with distant worlds and dangerous frontiers. Showcasing costumes from Dune and The Revenant. Halfway through this act, Doja Cat comes out in the costume designed by Michael Schmidt for Mad Max: Thunderdome, the costume was once worn by Tina Turner. Calvin Klein, Burberry, The Row, and Schiaparelli join these costumes on the runway. A fun upbeat way to

Vogue World: Hollywood, is an eye-catching and fun fashion show. Highlighting so many films and iconic costumes that have continued to shape the film industry today. The music complements the runway so well matching each acts aesthetic or genre perfectly. Many of these films I 100%% agree with them being in the line up. However I believed some more iconic costumes from films such as Back to the Future, Princess Bride, Sound of Music, and Oppenheimer deserved to be in this mix as well. I truly recommend anyone with a love for film and costume design (even just clothing designer as well, some of the designer pieces are beautiful.) to take a look at this showcase.
